Sustainability

The Call of the Wild
With Nature
From the days of the first Icelandic settlers colonizing the weatherbeaten landscape, Icelanders have been known for being hardworking, reliable and robust.
In our almost eighty years of business Icelandic Seafood has never shied away from the challenges of our industry. Our people have always lived up to Icelandic Seafood principles: we do business in an honest and open manner. We are straightforward and friendly in our approach and always prioritize the customer’s needs.
Above all we value the satisfaction of our customers. We deliver immaculate quality products and a service that all are 100% satisfied with. We ensure all our supply chain operations abide by strict Icelandic Seafood principles to maintain the Icelandic promise worldwide.

Icelandic Seafood is focused on supplying the finest, most immaculate quality seafood worldwide.

We mirror the pristine purity of our native North Atlantic Ocean in all the seafood we provide. Our own global quality standards are rigorously implemented in order to make sure our seafood meets and exceeds not only the goals of the group, but also food safety standards.

With all of our frozen seafood products, quality is our priority. All of our fish is brought to market quickly and efficiently from ocean to plate with a minimal carbon footprint.

The majority of our frozen fish is Single-Frozen

meaning that it has only been frozen once: onboard the vessel it is caught on.
We pride ourselves on the unrivalled quality and sustainability of our seafood – our wild-caught fish is second to none and can be traced throughout the value chain. In an industry often fraught with issues of transparency, Icelandic delivers an ethical and sustainable product caught in the wild.
The Icelandic tradition goes back centuries and in many ways things haven't changed a bit
Iceland boasts some of the most pristine and untouched natural surroundings on the planet, and we’re committed to keeping it that way.
Geothermal activity is an important part of Icelandic geology and allows us to harness the power of nature for our energy generation needs
Our non-invasive fishing techniques have earned us many accreditations and accolades, all borne from a fishing tradition stretching back centuries.
The Icelandic people live at one with nature with the utmost respect for their natural environment which you can feel in Icelandic products today.

Marine
Stewardship
Council

Icelandic ensures the sustainability of our fishing operations through comprehensive certifying independent bodies including the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and others. We pride ourselves on quick frozen, wild-caught fish from Iceland and the greater North Atlantic that you can feel safe about during its journey from the sea to your plate.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

The environmental impact of our frozen fish products shipped to Asia is dwarfed by the CO2 output involved with the production of frozen chicken, frozen pork, fresh fish from comparable regions, and is infinitesimal compared with the pollution wrought by the beef production industry. As our fish products are only frozen once—immediately after being caught—they are arguably more fresh than the “fresh” fish offered by other companies.

The Icelandic vision of sustainability goes far beyond just seafood—our land-based operations are entirely run using Green Energy, our facilities use geothermal and hydro energy indigenous to Iceland to operate. Freezing wild caught fish to -30 degrees Celsius uses quite a bit of energy and we obtain that energy healthily and sustainably.

When it comes to frozen redfish, Greenland halibut, mackerel, capelin, herring, cod, saithe and scampi, top professional chefs and restaurants in Asia rely on us for the quality that only comes through a partnership with Icelandic. The Icelandic commitment to quality, equity, and environmentalism is truly the call of the wild.
